Inspired by a floral ornate frame I thrifted. "Crown" is a term that is used in African American culture to describe our natural hair. Despite adversity surrounding our natural curls and coils, we take pride in our roots. Hair in our community is often used as a way to express our individuality, culture, creativity, and is a way to connect with one another. In this illustration the Crown is decorated with flowers to display creativity and connection with Mother Nature.
